La Naulette

 

a grotto in the valley of the Lesse River, near the city of Dinant, Namur Province, Belgium. Excavations by the Belgian scientist E. Dupont in 1866 uncovered in the Würm layer (late Pleistocene) the lower jaw and various bone fragments of Neanderthal man, as well as bones of the mammoth, woolly rhinoceros, reindeer, and other animals. Paleolithic stone tools were not found.
