Any of the drugs (such as conivaptan and tolvaptan) that block cellular receptors to antidiuretic hormone and increase the excretion of water by the kidneys. These agents are used to treat hyponatremia in patients with syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone. See also: antagonist
