a Chinese (Tibetan) wind instrument. The mabu consists of a bamboo pipe with six or seven holes (for changing the pitch) and a small bell mouth; the upper part of the pipe has a notched (“vibrating”) reed. The sound formation of the mabu is similar to that of the clarinet.
