Metallurgy Publishing House

 

the central publishing house of the State Committee for Publishing, Printing, and the Book Trade of the Council of Ministers of the USSR; publishes literature on ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy. Founded in Moscow in 1939 under the name Metallurgizdat; it has had its present name since 1963.

The Metallurgy Publishing House puts out scientific-technical and industrial literature, reference books, and textbooks, as well as catalogs and posters. It also publishes seven journals, including Stal’ (Steel) and Tsvetnye metally (Nonferrous Metals). In 1973 the publishing house produced 207 titles, with a total printing of 1.7 million copies and a volume of 21.4 million printer’s sheets.
