Langöya

an island in the Norwegian Sea, off the northwestern coast of Norway, one of the Vesterålen Islands. Area, 860 sq km; maximum elevation, 691 m. The shore of Langöya is strongly dissected by fjords. The island consists predominantly of meadows, heaths, and peat bogs. The leading industry is fishing.
