Lansing, Jessica
(religion, spiritualism, and occult)Jessica Lansing is the pseudonym of a channeler who lives in the San Francisco Bay area. For more than thirty years, she has channeled an entity named Michael, who claims that every person is the essence of Tao, the ancient Chinese principle of cosmic unity. Michael first appeared in 1970, by way of the Ouija® talking board. He claims that humans are fragments of an entity slowly evolving back to Tao. But in order to achieve this cosmic oneness, this state of perfection, the fragments must come together as a single entity and transcend seven planes of existence.
Michael validates the seven planes or spheres which were the suggested existences put forward by Emanuel Swedenborg (1688–1772), Helena Blavatsky (1831–1891), Rudolf Steiner (1861–1925), and many Spiritualists. He keeps returning to the number seven, with seven basic stages of the soul, seven incarnations, and seven roles to be experienced. Michael represents himself as being made up of a thousand “old soul fragments,” and as being a “recombined entity.” Writer Chelsea Quinn Yarbro has written two books on Lansing’s entity, Messages from Michael (1979) and More Messages from Michael (1986).
In recent years more than a dozen other people—mostly in the same San Francisco Bay area—have claimed to be channeling this same entity, Michael. He is coming through by means of trance utterings, automatic writing, and clairaudience.
