Nikitinskii, Iakov Iakovlevich

 

Born 1854; died Mar. 29, 1924, in Moscow. Soviet chemical engineer.

After graduating from the Moscow Higher Technical School (1876), Nikitinskii worked at the school (he became a professor in 1890). He became a professor at the Moscow Institute of Agriculture (now the K. A. Timiriazev Moscow Agricultural Academy) in 1893 and at the Higher School of Commerce (now the G. V. Plekhanov Moscow Institute of the National Economy) in 1908. His works are devoted to the production technology of food and agricultural products (for example, the processing of fruits and vegetables and the chemistry of starch). He took part in setting up the Soviet food industry.
