Miagkov, Aleksandr Vasil’evich

 

Born July 12, 1923, in Moscow. Soviet motion-picture designer. People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1980).

Miagkov graduated from the art department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography in 1953. Films he designed include Song of a Horse Herder (1956), Mountain Avalanche (1959), The Trial Period (1960), Alenka (1962), The Great Road (1963), As I Stride Through Moscow (1964), and The Man 1 Love (1966). From 1970 to 1972, Miagkov worked on the film epic Liberation, consisting of Arch of Fire, The Break, The Direction of the Main Blow, The Battle for Berlin, and The Last Assault. He has also designed Selecting a Goal (1976), Soldiers of Freedom (1977), and White Snows of Russia (1980).

Miagkov received the Lenin Prize in 1972 and was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and several medals.
