Location:9 miles east of Sarasota on SR 72.
Facilities:76 full-facility campsites, 3 youth/group camps, 6 primitive campsites,and 5 historic log cabins (modernized); concession with canoe andbicycle rentals, food, supplies, and souvenirs; picnicareas, pavilions, playgrounds; boat ramp, fishing pier (é); horsetrail, nature trail with observation tower; visitor center, restrooms(é).
Activities:Camping, canoeing, freshwater fishing, hiking, backpacking,horseback riding, bicycling, wildlife viewing, birding, tram tours,canoe tours, airboat rides, interpretive programs.
Special Features:The Myakka River, designated as a Florida Wild and Scenic River, flowsthrough 58 square miles of wetlands, prairies, hammocks, and pinelands.The park features an elevated, canopiedwalkway that offers visitors a walk "through the tree tops" andpanoramic views over a vast expanse of forest. In addition to theriver, the park also has two lakes.
