MicroLED

MicroLED

An LED display technology that uses smaller pixels than are currently used. MicroLED is a true LED emitter like OLED and plasma, not the LED backlights in LCD TVs, which are called LED TVs for marketing purposes. Modular wall-sized MicroLED displays were demonstrated by LG and Samsung in 2018 that were made up of several square modules that fit together. For the time being, MicroLEDs are expected to be used in phone and watch screens, not regular-sized TVs. See LED and OLED.
