[′led ‚bās ′bab·ət] (metallurgy) Alloy of 10-15% antimony, 2-10% tin, up to 0.2% copper, sometimes with arsenic, the remainder being lead; used as a bearing metal; a variation used in diesel engine and railway bearings contains alkaline-earth metals. Also known as white-metal bearing alloy.
