Abelian quantum Hall state

[ə′bē·lē·ən ¦kwän·təm ¦hȯl ‚stāt] (cryogenics) A quantum Hall state that contains two or more components of incompressible fluid, has a filling factor equal to p / q, where q is not divisible by p, and has a topological order that can be described as a pattern of dancing steps of the electrons and can be characterized by a symmetric matrix and a charge vector, both with integer entries.
