spider cancer

spider cancer

A nonspecific term for any well-vascularised malignancy (e.g., an angiosarcoma) with an arachnoid growth pattern, or one that spreads from a primary site peripherally via lymphatic channels or blood vessels. Spider cancer is not a formally recognised pathological entity and is not used in the working medical parlance, but may be used when discussing the spread of a tumour to a patient or other less medically sophisticated audiences.
