 [bar″o-ti´tis] an inflammatory condition of the ear due to exposure to differing atmospheric pressures, such as those experienced when in an airplane.barotitis me´dia a symptom complex consisting of ear pain, dizziness, and muffled hearing, caused by difference between the atmospheric pressure of the environment and air pressure in the middle ear.

aerotitis

A general term for symptoms and disorders arising in the middle ears from changes in external pressure. Aerotitis includes the effects of changes in barometric pressure as in aircraft flights, and, by analogy, changes in water pressure experienced by divers.
