Szentes

a city in southeastern Hungary, in the megye (county) of Csongrád. Located on a branch of the Tisza River. Population, 32,500 (1970). A railroad junction, Szentes has workshops servicing the railroad industry. Food processing is a major industry in the city; enterprises include flour mills, a poultry and egg combine, and an enterprise for the production of canned vegetables. The mixed-feed industry is also important, as well as the production of precision tools.
