Billroth's operation (procedure)

 [bil´rōts] any of various partial or complete gastrectomy operations; the Billroth I procedure is gastroduodenostomy and the Billroth II procedure is gastrojejunostomy.

Billroth's operation

Surgical removal of the part of the stomach (partial gastrectomy) with stitching of the remainder to the DUODENUM, or to the JEJUNUM just below the duodenum, in the treatment of stomach ulcer. (Christian Albert Billroth, 1829–1894, Prussian surgeon).
