Seger Cones

a set of ceramic samples (small pyramids 4–5 cm high) that have various melting points and are used for approximate determination of the temperature in the working space of industrial ovens and to describe the refractoriness of materials. The method of measuring temperature by using Seger cones was proposed by the German chemist H. Seger (1839–93).
