RAI-TV
(Radiotelevisione Italiana), a government-controlled joint-stock company that has a monopoly on radio and television broadcasting in Italy. Radio Audizioni Italia (RAI) was founded in 1944 to succeed Ente Italiano Audizioni Radiofoniche (EIAR) and was reorganized as RAI-TV in. 1954. Radio broadcasts in 26 languages, including Russian, are beamed to Europe, America, Asia, Africa, and Australia. There are two television channels. RAI-TV is a member of Eurovision.
