Slotted Card

Slotted Card

a variation of the edge-punched card, in which the perforations are slots instead of edge notches. The slots connect two or more holes punched in the card. Unlike edgepunched cards, slotted cards have all perforations cut in one direction, either vertically or horizontally across the card. Slotted cards are intended for manual sorting of data files. The absence of edge notches reduces wear on the edges of the cards and increases the cards’ service life (compared with edge-punched cards).
