Anode-Mechanical Machine Tool

Anode-Mechanical Machine Tool

a machine tool for anode-mechanical metalworking. The most common are the cutting disk and the belt types for cutting stock, and less common are the polishing and grinding types for machining the outer and inner surfaces of solids of revolution and certain other designs. The principal parts of an anode-mechanical machine tool are the main drive, the feed mechanism, the automatic feed control, and the power supply. The main drive consists of an induction motor, a belt or chain drive, and a shaft with an electrode-tool in the case of the disk types or a drive pulley with a belt transport mechanism for the tape belt types. The drive mechanism for the electrode tool is electromechanical or sometimes hydraulic. The power supply generally employed is between 600 and 2,000 amperes DC at 22 to 30 volts. Electrolyte continually floods the working area; some machines have localized baths.
