Sel’skii, Vladimir Aleksandrovich

 

Born Oct. 13 (25), 1883, in the village of Vykhilevka, in what is now Khmel’-nitskii Oblast; died Feb. 18, 1951, in Kiev. Soviet geologist and geophysicist. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1939).

Sel’skii graduated from the University of Kiev in 1909. His principal works dealt with questions in theoretical and applied geophysics and problems of the petroleum and gas deposits of particular regions in the Northern Caucasus, the Ukraine, and the Volga-Ural region.
