Varnish Spreader

used in cabinetmaking to apply varnish or paint coatings to prepared exterior surfaces of panels. A varnish spreader consists of two working tables (feeding and receiving) with moving conveyor belts; a varnish application mechanism, including the varnish injection head, which is located between the tables; a pump; and a varnish tank.

The article to be treated is transported on the conveyor through the zone of the varnish injection head, thus passing through the varnish curtain shower and being coated with an even layer of the varnish (or paint). The thickness of the applied layer is controlled by the slit width of the varnish injection head or by the angle of tilt of a special weir, as well as by the speed with which the article is moved. Varnish spreaders are usually equipped with two injection heads. The required viscosity of the varnish is maintained by a special viscosity stabilizer, which controls the solvent’s rate of evaporation. Varnish spreaders are highly productive and use varnish more efficiently than other methods of varnish coating (for example, dipping or brushing).
