Rubin, William

Rubin, William

(1927– ) art historian, curator; born in New York City. He studied at Columbia University (B.A. 1949; M.A. 1952; Ph.D. 1959), and at the University of Paris. He taught at several institutions before joining the Museum of Modern Art in 1967 as curator and director of painting and sculpture. He specialized in dada and surrealist art, and published many books on modern art.
