A series of dietetic guidelines promulgated by the Arthritis Foundation, which are intended to reduce arthritic symptoms (with the caveat that the data linking diet to arthritis is weak); the diet is based on sound dietary principles—e.g., eating a variety of foods; maintaining an optimal weight; avoiding excess cholesterol, fat, sugar and sodium; reducing alcohol; and consumption of adequate starch and fibre.
