Vasilev, Liuben

 

Born Aug. 22, 1911, in the city of Shumen; died Feb. 8, 1971. Bulgarian scholar and lawyer. Member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences from 1958 and of its Presidium from 1959. Director of the Institute of Law of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences from 1949.

Vasilev’s main works are on problems of civil law, legal questions of state property, the legal regulation of the new systems for the management of the national economy, and legal questions of international cooperation. (His works include The Civil Law of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria, published in 1958 in Russian.) Vasilev was a deputy to the People’s Assembly of Bulgaria from 1962 and chairman of the Commission for Legislative Proposals of the People’s Assembly.
