Location:4 miles northwest of Duchesne, just off Highway 40.
Facilities:54 campsites, group camp, showers, modern restrooms (é), picnic areas, group pavilion, swimming beach, boat ramp.
Activities:Camping, boating, sailing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, ice fishing.
Special Features:One legend has it that a group of mountain men caught in winter snows survived by stealing a cache of food from local Indians, and the Indians starved. Another version is that the Indians stole the trappers' cache of food and left the trappers to starve. It's unlikely that either tale bears reference to the naming of the Starvation dam and reservoir. The name more likely derived from the fact that settlers in this area endured tremendous hardship, so they nicknamed the area "Starvation."
