A great book (and subsequent BBC TV series) telling the truestory of Clifford Stoll, an astronomy professor at UCB'sLawrence Berkeley Lab. A 75-cent accounting error alertedhim to the presence of an unauthorised user (a cracker) onhis system. The cracker, code named "Hunter", was breakinginto US computer systems and stealing sensitive military andsecurity information. Hunter was part of a spy ring paid incash and cocaine, and reporting to the KGB.
