Established: 1990. The first marine conservation park in the Province of Québec is operated jointly by the governments of Québec and Canada.
Location:At the juncture of the Saguenay River and the Saint Lawrence Estuary, approximately 205 km from Québec City.
Facilities:Information center, observation sites, trails (96 km), marina, boat launch.
Activities:Camping, hiking, fishing, boating, sea kayaking, scuba diving, whale watching, interpretive and educational programs.
Special Features:Park protects the ecosystems of a representative portion of the Saguenay Fjord and the Saint Lawrence Estuary marine environment, an area rich and diverse in marine life. In all, more the 15 marine mammals inhabit the area on a regular basis or use it as a summer feeding ground including the harbor seal, harbor porpoise, beluga whale, minke whale, fin whale, and blue whale. Park also serves as the reproduction, feeding, and staging area for a number species of aquatic birds.
