a conflict in ancient Rome between the triumvir Octavian (Augustus) and the supporters of the triumvir Mark Antony, lasting from the autumn of 41 to the spring of 40 B.C. Antony’s supporters were his wife Fulvia and his brother Lucius (consul in 41). Taking advantage of the resentment felt by the Italici toward Octavian, who had confiscated their lands for the veterans; Lucius and Fulvia organized a revolt against him in the city of Perusia. Octavian’s troops captured the city and looted and burned it.
