Bardovskii, Petr Vasil’evich

 

Born 1846 in St. Petersburg; died Jan. 16 (28), 1886. Figure in the Russian and Polish revolutionary movements.

Bardovskii was a lawyer by education. From 1868 he was a justice of the peace in Warsaw. From 1882 to 1884 he participated in the Polish revolutionary party Proletariat, maintaining communications with the Russian revolutionary organization People’s Will. In the course of his arrest (June 28, 1884), the archive of Proletariat and a draft of the “Appeal to Military Officers,” which he had written, were captured. By the sentence of a court-martial, he was executed in the Warsaw citadel.
