Traffic-Control Panel

Traffic-Control Panel

a device for effective visual monitoring and automatic recording of information on the state of objects that are part of a traffic-control system. Such panels are installed at traffic-control centers of power systems and industrial and transportation enterprises. A traffic-control panel is usually a board with control devices, light indicators, and memory circuits that display the state of the object, as well as its reaction to the dispatcher’s actions. Traffic-control panels may also include radar screens for evaluating the situation in the airspace at an airport or closed-circuit television at industrial enterprises. The development of automation and computer technology has made possible the manufacture of compact traffic-control panels equipped with automatic devices to receive and process data and with more vivid display. Such panels are most often used in automatic control systems.
