pseudohypoxemia pseudohypoxemia (sood″ō-hip″ok″sēm′ē-ă) [ pseudo- + hypoxemia] An inaccurately low measurement of the oxygen content of a sample of blood. It typically occurs in normally oxygenated patients with leukemia, in whom excessive white blood cells in an arterial blood sample consume oxygen before the sample can be analyzed in the clinical laboratory. |
