[ri′mōt ′kän‚sōl] (computer science) A terminal in a remote computing system that has facilities for communicating with, and exerting control over, the central processing unit, and which may have devices for reading and punching cards or paper tape, any of various types of display units, printers, and a keyboard device for direct communication with the central processing unit.
