Location:Take Highway 160 west from Walsenburg for 60 miles, then north onHighway 150 for 13.5 miles, left on Six Mile Lane for 8 miles, andnorth a short distance to park entrance.
Facilities:51 campsites, electrical hookups, laundry, showers, restrooms, 27picnic sites, multi-use trails, boat ramp(é).
Activities:Camping, boating, fishing, water-skiing, sailboarding, jet skiing,hiking, mountain biking, hunting (with restrictions), cross-countryskiing/snowshoeing, ice skating, ice fishing, birdwatching, interpretive programs.
Special Features:Park is a unique desert area near Great Sand Dunes National Monument(see entry in national parks section), with a natural playa lakelocated amid rolling sand hills and flats. The park is also a wildlifearea, with waterfowl, shorebirds, songbirds, and raptors as well as biggame such as deer and elk. There's also a bison ranch nearby.
