Sannar
(also called Sennar), a city in Sudan, on the left bank of the Blue Nile River. Population, approximately 8,000. San-nar is a railroad junction and the commercial center of a cotton-growing region. Near the city are the Makwar Reservoir, a hydroelectric power plant, and Sannar Dam, situated on the Blue Nile.
