Beet Molasses

Beet Molasses

a feed syrup that is a by-product of beet-sugar production; a dark brown viscid liquid with a characteristic odor.

A carbohydrate feed, molasses is used in feeding livestock. It contains 20–25 percent water; about 9 percent nitrogenous compounds, primarily amides; 58–60 percent carbohydrates, primarily sugar; and 7–10 percent ash. Molasses is a good means of seasoning coarse and concentrated feeds and is added to many mixed feeds. It is used as a binder in grinding feeds.
