Piešt’any
a balneopelotherapeutic health resort in Czechoslovakia, in the Slovak Socialist Republic. Piešt’any is located 87 km northeast of Bratislava, in the valley of the Váh River. Winters are mild, with an average January temperature of — 2°C, and summers are warm, with an average July temperature of 20°C. Annual precipitation totals 600 to 800 mm.
There are thermal hydrogen-sulfide springs (Trajan, Patria, Krato, and Torkoš), whose waters are used for therapeutic baths and for irrigation and inhalation; they are also used in swimming pools. The formula of the water from the Trajan spring is
