Pionerskii

(until 1947, Neukuhren), a city in Kaliningrad Oblast, RSFSR, under the jurisdiction of the Svetlogorsk city soviet. Pionerskii is a climatic resort on the Baltic Sea, 8 km from Svetlogorsk. Summers are moderately warm, with an average July temperature of 17°C; winters are mild, with an average January temperature of –3°C. Precipitation totals 710 mm annually. Pionerskii has a railroad station (Pionerskii Kurort), which is 38 km northwest of Kaliningrad. There is a fishing industry.
