Unified Health Board

Unified Health Board

A body created in the wake of "Our National Health—A Plan for Action, a Plan for Change", which was launched by Scottish Parliament in 2000, and operational by 2001. The 12 original UHBs replaced the existing Health Boards and NHS Trusts, and have grown to 14 NHS Health Boards. They are accountable to the Scottish Health Department and Ministers for the functions and performance of NHS-Scotland. All members of the Board share collective responsibility for overall results, including performance of its component parts.
