Uglegorsk State Regional Electric Powerplant

 

a condensation electric power plant in the settlement of Svetlodarskoe, Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Its designed capacity is 3,600 MW—four 300-MW units and three 800-MW units. The 300-MW units are fueled by Donetsk coal, and the 800-MW units, by mazut. Water is supplied from a storage reservoir. Construction on the power plant was begun in 1967, and the first stage was put into operation in 1973. In early 1976, the four 300-MW units and one 800-MW unit went on line. The electricity is transmitted through 110- and 330-kV lines. The power plant is part of the united energy system of the south, which is part of the United Power System of the USSR.
