Planerskoe
Planerskoe
(until 1944, Koktebel’), an urban-type settlement in Crimean Oblast, the Ukrainian SSR, under the jurisdiction of the city soviet of Feodosiia. Planerskoe is situated on the southern coast of the Crimea in the eastern foothills of the Kara-dag, 20 km southwest of Feodosiia. The Koktebel’ Sovkhoz and a winery are in the settlement.
Planerskoe is a seaside health resort on the Black Sea. Summers are hot, with an average July temperature of about 24°C, and winters are mild, with an average January temperature of about 0°C. Annual precipitation totals 360 mm. The treatments offered at the resort are climatotherapy and thalassotherapy (from mid-June to October). There is a broad beach of fine sand. The Primor’e tourist center, a boarding house, and a House of Arts of the Literary Fund of the USSR, founded by M. A. Voloshin, are all in Planerskoe. In the 1920’s and 1930’s, glider competitions were held regularly near Koktebel’.
