Todzha Basin

an intermontane depression in the Tuva ASSR; situated in the basin of the Khamsara and Azas rivers, right tributaries of the Bol’shoi Enisei. The Todzha Basin lies between the Vostochnyi Saian and the Akademik Obruchev Range. It extends approximately 150 km and rises to elevations of 800 m in the west and 1,800 m in the east. The basin has low-elevation and, in places, mid-elevation relief. In the west there are hills and plains. The basin has numerous lakes, including the Todzha, Many-Khol’, and Kadysh-Khol’. The vegetation, mainly of the taiga type, consists of larch, cedar, spruce, and pine. In the west there are birch forests and grass and sedge meadows.
