Storozhinets

a city (since 1940) and center of Storozhinets Raion, Chernovtsy Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Situated on the Siret River (a left tributary of the Danube) in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. Railroad station on the Glubokaia-Bukovinskaia-Beregomet line. Population, 11,600(1975). Storozhinets has enterprises of the wood-products industry, as well as a cheese plant and a brickyard. The city has a forestry technicum.
