Vechernee Vremia

daily Black Hundreds newspaper, published in St. Petersburg from Nov. 26 (Dec. 9), 1911, to Nov. 11 (24), 1917, with supplements (P rib avie nie). A. S. Suvorin was the publisher during 1911-12; from the end of 1912, it was put out by the Novoe Vremia Publishing Company (editor B. A. Suvorin, son of A. S. Suvorin).

The paper shared the political views of the Octobrists, the bourgeois counterrevolutionary party headed by A. I. Guchkov, and for this reason V. I. Lenin called the paper “Guchkovite-Suvorinite” (see Poln. sobr. soch., 5th ed., vol. 32, p. 37). During 1917, it was the organ of the counterrevolutionary officers. It was shut down after the Great October Socialist Revolution on account of its anti-Soviet propaganda. During the Civil War, 1918-20, Vechernee Vremia was published in the territory occupied by the White armies of Denikin and Wrangel; from 1921 to 1924, it was published in Belgrade and Paris.
