Web: www.schoodicbyway.org Description:Traversing an unspoiled region of northeastern Maine, byway passes along villages and waterfronts, several lighthouses, the only mainland portion of Acadia National Park, and close to Petit MananNational Wildlife Refuge. It offers views of Cadillac Mountain and Frenchman Bay, fields of blueberry, andwildflowers.
Legth: 29 miles. Start/Endpoint: Begins on US 1 where the Hancock-Sullivan Bridgecrosses Taunton Bay. Continues through Sullivan to SR 186 inGouldsboro, then follows SR 186 through Winter Harbor to theSchoodic Loop Road. After traversing the loop through Acadia NationalPark, the byway rejoins SR 186 in Birch Harbor and runs east,ending in Prospect Harbor. Time to Allow: 1.5 hours. Designation/Year: National Scenic Byway (2000).
