diseases of animals that are caused by insects of the class Arachnida (parasitic mites) and by poisonous spiders (the karacurt in Middle Asia, and others). The mites often cause such serious and widespread diseases of agricultural animals as acariasis and psoroptoses. The bloodsucking mites, attacking animals en masse, provoke anemia, skin inflammation, poisoning, and a significant reduction in productivity. Control measures in the struggle against arach-noses are directed toward the destruction of the mites in pastures, in animals’ living areas, and on the animals themselves.
