Pysin, Aleksei

Born Mar. 22, 1920, in the village of Vysokii Borok, now in Krasnopol’e Raion, Mogilev Oblast. Soviet Byelorussian poet. Member of the CPSU since 1944. Fought in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–45.

Pysin graduated from the Higher Literary Courses of the Writers’ Union of the USSR in 1958. He began publishing in 1938. He wrote the poetry collections Our Day (1951), Blue Morning (1959), Sunny High Water (1962), My Meridians (1965), The Palms of Your Hands (1967; Ia. Kupala State Prize of the Byelorussian SSR), The Floodplain (1968), and Going Out in the World (1972). Pysin’s poetry is marked by fervor, dedication to the theme of the people, and a sense of civic responsibility.
