Tumba

a lake in Zaire, in the central Congo Basin. Area, 765 sq km; maximum depth, 8 m. Lake Tumba originated as a system of submerged river valleys. It drains into the Congo (Zaire) River via the Irebu channel. The lake was discovered in 1883 by H. M. Stanley.
