Established: Authorized on March 2, 1936.
Location:In Richmond, Virginia, accessible via I-95 (Exit 75) or I-64. The parkencompasses a large area with battlefield sites and visitorcenters located in the City of Richmond, and Henrico, Hanover andChesterfield counties. It consists of 13 separate sites, including the CivilWar Visitor Center and the Chimborazo Medical Museum, with four visitor centers. A complete tourof the park involves an 80-mile drive.
Facilities:Picnic area, visitor centers, museum/exhibit, self-guided tour/trail.
Activities:Walking tours, auto touring, living history programs.
Special Features:The park commemorates 11 different sites associated with Union campaigns from 1861-1865 to capture Richmond, the Confederate capital. These battlefield sites include Cold Harbor, Gaines Mill, and Malvern Hill.
