Aralsulfat

urban-type settlement in the Aral’sk Raion, Kzyl-Orda Oblast, Kazakh SSR; located on Lake Zhaksykylysh 15–20 km from the Aral Sea railroad station (on the Orenburg-Tashkent line). Population, 4,300 (1968). Table salt is extracted; until 1963, sodium sulfate was also extracted. Aralsul’fat consists of two parts located 6 km apart.
